Let’s be honest — life be life-ing.
And in those moments when the world feels loud, heavy, or too much, I return to the page.
Because for me, writing is more than storytelling — it’s survival. It’s a sacred act of healing, reflection, and reclamation.
Writing is How We Rise
Every story I write — from A Cherished Holiday to Thick As Thieves — is grounded in one truth: Black and Brown voices carry power, even when they tremble.
We’ve been told to be quiet. We’ve been told to toughen up.
But writing? Writing is where we get to be soft and strong, vulnerable and victorious. It’s where we get to say:
“This is what I’ve been through. This is how I survived. And this is how I’m still showing up with sparkle and soul.”
My Characters Are Survivors
Cherish didn’t just fall in love — she had to learn how to trust again.
Bella didn’t just chase her dream — she had to confront her fear.
The women in Thick As Thieves didn’t just build a bond — they had to fight for it through betrayal and truth.
That’s resilience. That’s real.

Why This Matters
Creative writing is how we write ourselves free.
It’s how we speak for those who couldn’t.
It’s how we leave a legacy that says “We were here. And we mattered.”
Whether you’re journaling, blogging, writing books, or just scribbling affirmations on a napkin — you’re practicing resistance wrapped in creativity.
📣 To Every Reader, Writer, and Dreamer:
Your voice is powerful.
Your story is necessary.
And every time you put pen to paper, you are choosing to rise.
Let’s keep writing. Let’s keep healing. Let’s keep shining.
Together.
